Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a gentle, quick and powerful procedure that leaves the client observably relieved and no longer stuck in their previously distressing, involuntary, out-of-order reaction patterns. It is a technique that has shown great success in the treatment of trauma and painful memories/experiences, chronic pain, habits and addictions, fears and phobias and stress. Probably one of the most important benefits of EFT is relaxation.
During the course of Reiki therapy a client may express very specific concerns such as fears, anxieties, phobias, specific physical pain, specific emotional issues, etc. Although Reiki is a very effective whole-body healing tool, it is sometimes necessary to first deal with more specific issue at hand. Using EFT either at the start or after the Reiki treatment can be quite valuable. Although I do not offer EFT as a freestanding therapy, I have found that there are certain practical applications of EFT, mostly before commencing with the Reiki treatment, that are beneficial to the effectiveness of the Reiki treatment. Clients suffering from headache often find it difficult to relax into the Reiki treatment. By “removing” the physical headache through EFT before commencing with the Reiki treatment, they can enjoy the full benefits of the Reiki treatment. The same applies to applying EFT to clients who experience uncomfortable levels of anxiety prior to a Reiki session.
